Eyedar

Eyedar is a free iPhone app that teaches the basics of echolocation to blind users. It uses built-in LiDAR to create a 3D map of the environment, which it transforms into a spatial soundscape. As the user approaches an object, the pitch and volume of the sound change, allowing them to “hear” the shape, distance, and direction of objects. The app offers a progressive training course, starting with simple object recognition and advancing to more complex tasks. This helps users develop natural echolocation skills and serves as a convenient aid for navigation without sight.
