Accessibility in Slay the Princess
Slay the Princess offers a high level of accessibility for blind and visually impaired players. The game fully supports NVDA screen readers and SAPI speech synthesizers, making it comfortable to play without visual input.
- NVDA: Press Shift + C to send text to the clipboard, which can be read automatically using NVDA Autoclip or a universal external script set.
- SAPI voice: Press V to have the system’s built-in speech synth read the text.
If you’re playing with English voice acting, the text of spoken lines isn’t automatically read by TTS. However, you can listen manually: after the voice line finishes, press the Down arrow, then the Up arrow, and the TTS will read the line.
You can also use alternate text languages alongside the English voice track, useful for those with basic English skills. The lines are voiced by Jonathan Sims and Nichole Goodnight, whose performances greatly enhance the atmosphere. If you miss something in the voice acting, you can always replay it via TTS.
