ArcticMud: A Dragonlance Adventure

ArcticMUD is a large-scale text-based online role-playing game set in the Dragonlance universe (the world of Krynn), existing since 1992. The project combines deep combat mechanics and a variety of races and classes, as well as regular wipes that refresh the game world.

The world of ArcticMUD spans hundreds of locations, from mountain passes and forest valleys to cities, caves, and dungeons. Each zone is handcrafted and filled with unique events, enemies, and NPC behavior logic. Unlike classic linear RPGs, the storyline and quests here don’t follow predefined scripts but instead depend on the behavior of the surrounding world, which reacts to player actions.

More than ten classes are available, each with a unique progression system—from learning spells through books and artifacts to mastering combat skills through practice. After reaching level 30, players unlock rank progression, a high-level content system that empowers characters through achievements and battles.

ArcticMUD uses a combat model inspired by AD&D 2nd Edition, where stats, combat initiative, spells, and defense follow a strict system.
