Code 7: A Story-Driven Hacking Adventure
Code 7: A Story-Driven Hacking Adventure immerses players in a gripping text-based adventure set in the eerie halls of a mysterious space station. As Alex, a skilled hacker armed with only a keyboard and terminal, you guide your partner Sam through perilous situations, uncovering the station’s secrets while racing to stop a catastrophic threat to humanity.
The story gradually unfolds into a psychological thriller, exploring themes of identity, morality, and the nature of reality. The gameplay incorporates realistic hacking techniques like Man-in-the-Middle, Brute Force, and Network Jamming, giving players multiple ways to tackle challenges, make choices, and shape the ending. Fully voice-acted dialogues and adaptive features for blind players make Code 7 highly accessible. Immersive sound design and music amplify the tension, delivering a cinematic experience. For fans of interactive text adventures with a blend of horror and sci-fi, Code 7 is a must-play.
Accessibility and Enabling Blind Player Mode
To ensure full accessibility, Code 7 includes a dedicated mode for blind players. To activate this mode after launching the game, press Ctrl + V.
Free Episode Limitations: In the free Episode Zero, navigating the main menu is only possible using hotkeys. In the paid version, menu navigation can also be done using arrow keys for greater convenience.
Voice Narration and SAPI Settings
The game features two types of voice narration:
- Professional Voice Acting: Character dialogues and station messages are performed by professional voice actors, enhancing the immersive atmosphere.
- SAPI Voice Narration: Console text, commands, and player dialogue are narrated using the Windows SAPI voice.
Note: The NVDA SAPI utility is not fully compatible with Code 7. It is recommended to use the built-in Windows voice system.
To change the SAPI voice:
- Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX.
- Open sapi.cpl.
- Select your preferred voice and adjust settings if needed.
Memorizing Information and Command Input
In Code 7, the developers have made it easier for players to manage passwords, logins, and other important information. All essential data, such as brute-force attack details, passwords, and logins, are saved in the system and displayed on-screen when needed. Additionally, the game features an automatic command input system: in most cases, typing the first letter of a command will prompt suggestions, which can be selected using the arrow keys or the Tab key. This functionality significantly simplifies gameplay.
Starting the Game and Configuring the Terminal
Once you’ve selected the desired episode, press the C key to begin the game. Note that command assistance does not work during the initial setup, so proceed carefully. After starting the game, follow these steps to configure the system:

- Then, type the command check and press Enter again.
- Once the system messages finish loading, press S, then Enter, and finally R.
These commands will set up and reboot the terminal, transitioning the game into its standard mode, allowing you to fully enjoy the gameplay experience.
